MVUSD Announces Administrative Changes

Dr. Pat Kelley, superintendent of the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, recently announced a number of promotions and new assignments for administrators heading into the new school year.

"We are fortunate to have so many top quality people in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, which allows us to promote from within," Kelley said. "These promotions and new assignments will utilize the special talents and skill sets of each of these administrators."

The new assignments:

-- Leigh Lockwood, currently principal at Tovashal Elementary, has been promoted and she will be the District's director of human resources. Lockwood has been principal at Tovashal Elementary since 2010.

-- Marcie Kea, principal at Shivela Middle School, will replace Lockwood as principal at Tovashal Elementary. Kea has been principal at Shivela since 2010.

-- Mark Pettengill, deputy principal at Vista Murrieta High School, has been promoted and he will serve as interim principal at Shivela Middle School.

-- Pam Roden was promoted and will serve as principal at E. Hale Curran Elementary School. Roden has 14 years of elementary teaching experience and she was vice principal at Foothills Schools Elementary for two years.

-- Tye Allenbrand has been promoted and he will serve as assistant principal at Monte Vista Elementary School. Tye came to the district in 2011 and he served as a program specialist through 2013. Last year he was promoted to senior program specialist.

-- Kim Ciabattini has been hired to serve as assistant principal at Cole Canyon Elementary School. Kim comes to the district from Santa Rosa Academy, where she was the assistant principal at the K-12 charter school for three years.

-- Joshua Fogal has been hired to serve as assistant principal at Lisa J. Mails Elementary. Fogal comes to the district from a large suburban intermediate school district in Chicago, where he taught fifth grade for seven years before serving as assistant principal at the school.

-- Mitchell Aulakh has been hired to serve as coordinator of assessment/research/academic projects. He is an expert in assessment, research and accountability after serving as a coordinator for Key Data Systems for four years.
