Each week of the school year, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Mesa High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Murrieta Mesa High School Athletes of the Week:

Jake Branch was selected as the honoree in boys water polo. Coach Audra Woods "chose him because of his constant positive attitude and the great week he had statistically. He’s an all-around good player."

Branch had three goals and three assists in the Rams' 18-1 win over Hillcrest Sept. 15, improving their record to 6-0.

Safety Robert Fitzgerald was honored for his defensive play in the football team's 31-6 victory over Tahquitz. He finished the game with 11 tackles, one tackle for loss and one interception.

Audrey Santore was honored for her standout play for the girls tennis team. Alexxis Carrillo was honored for her play and leadership with the girls volleyball team.

In cross country, J.D. Armstrong's solid performances so far earned him Athlete of the Week honors. Karma Richards was selected to represent the girls golf team.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Murrieta Mesa High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced the first week of October.
