As the heat waves continues, Murrieta residents are reminded to stay indoors, take precautions to avoid heatstroke and remember to protect pets as well.

Temperatures today and tomorrow are predicted to reach highs between 106-110 degrees before a slight cooling trend begins on Wednesday. Many schools have canceled outdoor activities today. Prolonged exposure to the heat may cause severe health problems.

Residents are urged to remain indoors in a cool place and to drink lots of water. Pets should also be kept indoors when possible and given plenty of water. Avoid unnecessary physical exertion.

Residents can also look out for each other, especially for seniors, by checking on them during this heat wave.
