School opened on time at Murrieta Mesa High School and Shivela Middle School this morning after police activity briefly prompted plans for a lockdown.

At 7 a.m., a statement from the Murrieta Valley Unified School District reported that both schools would open at the regular time. Plans to lock down the schools as a precautionary measure were cancelled after Murrieta Police apprehended two suspects wanted in connection with criminal activity in the area.

According to the statement, the suspects were at large in the neighborhoods off Symphony Park earlier in the morning before they were taken into custody. No other details are available at this time.

All parents and staff received a phone call to notify them of the situation.
