About 200 students from Thompson Middle School in Murrieta performed patriotic songs in a 9/11 remembrance performance during a noon hour assembly on Thursday.

Under the direction of Bryan Boos, the choir sang the national anthem, a medley of patriotic songs, a medley of armed forces theme songs and "God Bless the USA". Parents and students enjoyed the performance during two lunch hour sessions.

The choir has performed a patriotic concert every Sept. 11 since 2002.

"I teach them why we're doing this," said Boos, whose son is serving in the U.S. Marines. "I try to explain to them what happened, to let them recognize the significance of this. A lot of these kids weren't even born yet."

Here is a slide show of photos from Thursday's performance along with music from the choir.
