A Riverside County Sheriff's sergeant based out of the Southwest Division is facing charges of assault, domestic battery and attempted kidnapping, police said.

The alleged assault took place on Oct. 4 in Temecula. Sgt. Terry Jones, his girlfriend, and three other women had been consuming alcoholic beverages in an Old Town Temecula establishment, according to police. When the establishment closed, Jones and the women walked back to Jones' vehicle, when the three women witnessed Jones in a physical altercation with his girlfriend.

Shortly after, Jones allegedly assaulted one of the female members of the group back at his Temecula residence.

Later that same day, a female walked into the Southwest Sheriff's station, located in Murrieta, and reported that she was the victim of an assault.

After an investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Jones was arrested for domestic battery, felony assault, and kidnapping. He has been suspended and placed on paid administrative leave.
