Each week of the school year, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are the Murrieta Valley High School Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 13-19:

Senior goalkeeper Taylor Miller was honored on the boys water polo team, which is 13-6 overall and undefeated in league play.

Hailey Nichols is completing an outstanding four years a a member of the girls varsity golf team. Her experience and composure have been key factors in her success.

Anna Gorski is a freshman cross country runner and had her best race of the season Oct. 16 in a league meet. "She is an athlete who is very dedicated and that finally paid off," said her coach. "She improved her team placement by six spots."

Nose guard Austin Escalante contributed solid play on the line for the Nighthawks football team.

Boys cross country runner Jesse Ingraham is a senior and one of the best athletes on the team. He also had a great performance in the Oct. 16 meet.

Tennis player Emily Maxfield had a 9-0 record in sets played and led her team to victories over second-place Temecula Valley and third-place Vista Murrieta in Southwestern League competition.

Volleyball player Savannah Hilde led the team in kills and played exceptional at the net on defense during the week.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Murrieta Valley High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced the first week of November.
