Quarterback Kyle Williams rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns and passed for two more scores Friday night in leading the Vista Murrieta High School football team to a 42-7 victory over visiting Great Oak.

Williams, a converted wide receiver, has taken the majority of snaps from center this season following an injury to quarterback Westin Long in the season opener. Selected as the Murrieta 24/7 Athlete of the Month from his school for September, Williams is showing no signs of slowing down.

Williams' first touchdown came on a 40-yard run to cap the game's first possession. The score remained 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, but early in the second period, Williams passed 10 yards to Jamie Nunley for another score.

Williams' other touchdowns came on a 22-yard pass to Nate Kelly in the second quarter and a 22-yard run with 5 minutes left in the half. Williams also returned a punt 58 yards for a TD.

Vista (1-0, 4-2) led 42-7 at the half and didn't need another point to finish off an easy victory in its Southwestern League opener. The Broncos have now won 26 consecutive league games over the last six seasons.

Great Oak's only touchdown came on a 33-yard pass from Laquan Williams to Brandon Presley in the second quarter.
