Last month Essential Ink held their first Ink Out Domestic Violence fundraiser and it was a huge success. Over the course of three days their goal was to raise at least $1,000 for the Ink Out Domestic Violence organization through donations and specific purple ribbon tattoos. 100% of proceeds from specified tattoos was donated directly to the cause, and those who wanted to join the fundraiser but didn’t want a tattoo could still participate by donating or contributing to the raffle.
Throughout the weekend 16 people came in to get a purple ribbon tattoo and countless patrons made cash donations and purchased raffle tickets. Local business owners generously donated items to the raffle and two tattoo artists each donated $250 worth of tattoo services.
Overall the shop was able to meet their goal of raising $1,000, which will help move four local families into safe housing situations. Not only did they raise money for the organization but they also raised awareness for the cause and the Ink Out Domestic Violence facility.
They fully plan on making this an annual event. Seeing the support of the public and of family members as they sat with their loved ones while they got their purple ribbon tattoo was a highlight of the weekend.
“We not only had a blast putting this on, but we met some really awesome victims, survivors and supporters. The endless stories were inspiring and we are so proud to have been able to partner up with SAFE and make a difference,” shares shop partner Midori Gates.
