Each week of the school year, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Mesa High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are the Murrieta Mesa High School Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 20-26:

Linebacker Mason Meadors had an impressive performance for the Rams football team Oct. 24 against Vista Murrieta. He finished the game with three solo tackles and six assists. "Mason is another young, multi-sport athlete (football, basketball and baseball) we are very excited to see grow in our program," said coach Justin Schaeffer.

Kaitlyn Nethercutt has been a steady competitor all year for the girls cross country team. "She is always somebody we can count on and this showed with a great performance at Mt. SAC last week," coach Aaron Ballou said in reference to Nethercutt's showing at the Mt. San Antonio College Invational.

Gina Arce was selected to go to the Sunbelt League tennis finals and continues to be a key part of the team, said coach Lisa Laney.

Also honored were Ty Gilbert of the boys water polo team, Christina Hanson of the girls golf team and Geniverre Gast of the girls volleyball team.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Murrieta Mesa High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced later this week.
