A daytime prowler was arrested for attempting to break into a Murrieta residence.

At 10:39 a.m. this morning, a homeowner on the 29700 block of Ski Ranch Street, was startled by someone trying to attempt to open his sliding glass rear door. After pulling back the drapes, the homeowner spotted a Hispanic male pulling on the door handle.

The homeowner called 911 and the prowler ran from the scene. Murrieta Police arrived on the scene and set up a large containment of the area. The suspect was seen by witnesses, running toward a large, open field.

With the help of the Riverside Sheriff's Department Aero Bureau, they were able to locate the male suspect jumping over fences on Broken Arrow Way. Monte Vista Elementary was placed on a temporary lockdown as a precaution.

Murrieta resident, Miguel Angel Vazquez, 22, was arrested for Attempted Residential Burglary, Prowling, and Delaying a Police Officer.
