The 24th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards just passed and local resident, Joanna Pearl was awarded "Hot Adult Contemporary Album of the Year" for her album "Sensitive Material".

Besides the award she won, Pearl was also nominated for two other awards, "Hot Adult Contemporary Artist of the Year" and "Female Vocalist of the Year."

"It's exhilarating," Pearl said enthusiastically about winning her award. "I wasn't expecting it. It was an honor to be nominated for three LA Music Awards and to win one and bring one back home is awesome."

When attending the awards, Pearl also was surprised when she found out that her song "Sensitive Material" was one of 13 songs included on the LA Music Awards 2014 Compilation CD out of 10,000 songs submitted this year.

"I saw the album and thought 'oh so cool' and then I looked at it and was like 'Hey, my name's on it!'"

Since the beginning of the year, Pearl had been working hard on writing, recording, and launching her EP "Sensitive Material" which she debuted at Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula. Now that her CD has launched, she will take a brief break to enjoy the holidays before she continues to perform again.

"I have some gigs at the end of December," she said, when asked about what she had coming up. "I'm always writing and co-writing, and traveling to Orange County and LA County to collaborate with other artists."

When asked what other music artists inspire her, Pearl answered, "This question comes up a lot and I never have a good answer for this. Music to me is inspiring and it depends on if it grabs me from the beginning. It could be classical, it could be anything.

"I really love the big vocal singers. Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and even country stuff like Martina McBride and Reba McEntire. All powerful women. Authentic and soulful stuff."

All week long this week, Pearl will also featured on the well-known music website, The coveted feature spot was achieved when a Crowd Review (also known as a Test for Radio) was conducted by an anonymous panel of twenty Reverbnation judges who reviewed and scored each song (scaled from one to ten) off Joanna’s debut album “Sensitive Material”. A song that averages higher than 7.8 (on a one to ten scale), becomes that weeks feature song. Averaging an 8.1, her piano ballad "What's It Going To Take" was selected.

For those who are interested in listening to her music, she can be found on iTunes and Amazon. You can also follow her at or on her webpage at
