A California Highway Patrol Unit was rear ended on the 15, by a Ford F-150 pickup truck that lost control.

On Dec. 12, at approximately 9:06 a.m., CHP Officer Johnson, a 23 year CHP veteran, was parked in the dirt area of the right shoulder of the southbound 15, just south of Temecula Parkway.

Darrell Jones, 23, from San Diego, was traveling southbound in his 2002 Ford F-150, in the number two lane, when his truck fishtailed on the roadway and began to hydroplane toward the right shoulder. The F-150 collided into the patrol unit's rear end while Officer Johnson was sitting in the driver's seat.

Roadway conditions were wet at the time from the current rainstorm.

Neither Officer Johnson, nor Darrell Jones sustained any injuries from the collision, according to the police report.

The traffic collision is still under investigation.
