Murrieta Police arrested two men caught in the act of a residential burglary.

On Dec. 11, at 9:27 a.m., an observant neighbor alerted police to two males acting suspiciously at a residence of the 40100 block of Zamura Court. Within three minutes, a police officer arrived on the scene and found a black Toyota SUV parked in front of the residence with a flat tire. The officer noticed a small, female child, inside the vehicle, sitting alone in a car seat.

Moments later, two males emerged from the front of the residence and were immediately detained by the officer.

One of the males was in possession of burglary tools, and electronic device, and had blood stains on his hands. A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of a broken window in the front of the house and  an open rear sliding glass door.

The owner of the residence returned home and identified the electronic device as her property.

Jonathan Esquievel, 24, and Joseph Flores, 20, both from San Diego, were arrested on the scene for Residential Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Possession of Stolen Property. Esquievel was additionally charged with Child Abuse.

Upon a search of the suspect's vehicle, officers located stolen property from a previous residential burglary that took place on Mooncrest Court, according to the police report.
