A Lake Elsinore Police patrol car was involved in a collision with 2007 Corvette, driven by a male Lake Elsinore resident.

The driver of the Corvette had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire department personnel. Driver side air bags in both vehicles had been deployed during the collision. Both the deputy and the driver were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Also in the Corvette, was the 6-year-old granddaughter of the driver, but she escaped the accident uninjured, according to the police report.

The accident, which took place on Dec. 6 at approximately 6:35 p.m, partially blocked the intersection for a few hours and traffic had to be diverted while the California Highway Patrol conducted an investigation into the cause of the accident.
