For the first time in Murrieta Mesa High School's history, a football player from their team has been selected to the All-State Team.

The Rams junior kicker and punter Mateo Thompson was awarded California's All-State Second Team as a kicker.

Thompson was 11 for 14 during the season. Twice, he made field goals from 53 yards out and also kicked one from 52 yards. He was also a perfect 31 for 31 in point after attempts and kicked 33 balls into the end zone for touchbacks.

During the season, Thompson was also awarded Murrieta 24/7's Player of the Month for Murrieta Mesa High School, for the month of September.
