Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Vista Murrieta High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are the Vista Murrieta High School Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 26:

Andrew Bowers set a new Bronco single-season scoring record with his 13th goal of the season against Murrieta Valley on Jan. 16. Since then, he has scored three more to up the single-season record to 16 goals. In addition, his play has helped the Broncos to a 12-4-3 overall record and 3-0-1 league mark.

Kali Jones of the girls basketball team has already signed a commitment to attend UC Santa Barbara next year. Her defense in the middle was the key to a 69-53 win over Canyon Springs on Saturday. She averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds last week for the Broncos, who are 4-0 in league play and 15-6 overall.

Jacob Cooper took fourth place in the Five Counties Invitational wrestling tournament, one of the toughest tournaments in the state.

Junior soccer player Farah Ganime had a big week, including the game-tying goal in a game against Chaparral. The Broncos are 13-2-1 overall.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Vista Murrieta High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced early in February.
