A Vista Murrieta High School employee has been diagnosed with a probable case of measles, prompting the Murrieta Valley Unified School District to exclude from school 41 students who have not provided proof of protection from measles.

The parents of those students were notified on Friday after the district was instructed how to proceed by the Riverside County Health Department. Those students are excluded from school and all extracurricular school activities.

Vista Murrieta staff members who were exposed have also been required to provide proof of vaccinations or immunity to measles, according to Karen Parris, commmunication specialist for the school district. As of today, there are two staff members who are out until Friday or until they provide the results of a blood test that will determine their immunity level.
