A Murrieta man was booked into Southwest Detention Center on charges of probation violation and possession of a controlled substance after being arrested during a traffic stop, police said today.

Brandon Sanchez, 19, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Murrieta Police for a traffic violation in the 25000 block of Las Brisas Road at about 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 13. During the traffic stop, the officer learned that Sanchez was on active probation for two separate cases. The officer conducted a probation search of the vehicle and of Sanchez' possessions, which revealed over an ounce of methamphetamine split into several different bags.

Other sales related items were located, resulting in the arrest of Sanchez for possession of methamphetamine for sales purposes as well as violation of his probation.
