All three Murrieta high school sports teams that were in action won their games Saturday and will advance to the next round of the CIF playoffs on Wednesday.

Murrieta Valley High won its girls basketball game 63-35 over El Toro in the Division 1A playoffs. The Nighthawks will advance to the second round, where they will be at home against Newbury Park of the Marmonte League.

The Nighthawks' girls water polo team also was victorious on Saturday, winning a second-round matchup over Montebello, 13-11. They will face El Toro in the CIF 2A Division semifinals Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the William Wollett Aquatic Center in Irvine.

Murrieta Mesa's girls basketball team defeated Savanna in a 2A game, 47-26. The Rams will be at home against Patriot in the second round on Wednesday.
