Soccer player Danielle Clark and wrestler Dylan Todd have been named the Murrieta 24/7 Athletes of the Month representing Murrieta Mesa High School.

Clark led the girls soccer team to the Southwestern League title, its first ever. In so doing, the junior center forward became the first league MVP in any sport for the Rams.

Clark said the Rams have come a long way from two years ago, when they won only one game all season.

"It's really huge for us to see how far we came," she said. "We got a new coach last year and he's been a big contribution. Plus the players really stepped up. After winning our first couple games, we realized we're not the same team we were. We knew we could do it."

Clark also competes for the Arsenal club soccer team.

Todd placed second in league, second in the CIF finals and won a match in the Masters meet, the furthest he has ever advanced. Competing at 120 pounds, the senior wrestled all four years. He also played football and sophomore and junior years.

"My dad told me I had to do a sports and I do to wrestling," Todd said with a smile. "I found out I really loved it."

He plans to focus on his studies in college in preparation for a career as a firefighter.

Each athlete received a certificate from Murrieta 24/7 and two tickets to the Rock Fitness gym, courtesy of Sun Pro Solar, sponsor of the award.
