A Hemet man was arrested on Thursday, March 12 after fleeing the scene of a robbery in Temecula, police said today.

Officers from the Temecula Police Department's Problem Oriented Policing Team were summoned to a business in the 32000 block of Temecula Parkway regarding a theft that had just occurred. Officers observed the suspect running westbound along Via Rio Temecula and took him into custody without incident.

Michael Andrew Riley, 32, was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of robbery. Witnesses say that after he fled the business, the suspect pepper sprayed a loss prevention officer, who was treated at the scene. The stolen merchandise was recovered.
