Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Murrieta Valley High School Athletes of the Week:

Morgane Vuillemey has been consistent in the mile run, 800 meters and 4x400 relay for the girls track team even though she has competed all season with a cast on her right arm and wrist because of a broken hand, suffered when playing recreational soccer. A member if the Nighthawks' track program for four years, she is a captain of the team and is preparing for Thursday's home meet against league rival Murrieta Mesa.

"It first it was weird," Vuillemey said about competing in a race with her hand in a cast. "I had to change the baton to my left hand and my teammates had to get used to that, too. After a while, we got used to it."

Jacob Ogawa is a captain of the boys track team and is also a senior. He broke his personal record in the mile by 10 seconds in an invitational last weekend with a time of 4:30.

"Jacob leads the team not only with his performance, but also with his advice," said his coach, Fabrice Vuillemey. "His progress is amazing."

Noah Carr went 6-0 in singles matches for the boys tennis team last week in wins over Heritage and Corona.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Murrieta Valley High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced the first week in April. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
