Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Vista Murrieta High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Vista Murrieta High School Athletes of the Week:

Jamie Nunley is headed to the University of Arizona on a football scholarship, but first he's trying his hand as a member of Vista Murrieta's first-year boys volleyball program. He had 12 kills and displayed solid serves and defense in a recent win over San Marcos.

Sophomore third baseman and catcher Jocelyn De La Cruz is hitting .379 with 10 RBIs and leads the girls softball team with 3 home runs. The Broncos are 8-3 overall.

Freshman Jake Moberg is hitting .441 with 7 RBIs and also has posted a 1.75 ERA with one save as a pitcher for the Broncos baseball team, which is 8-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.

The swimming team is represented by Michael Jones, who has broken three school records in the last month; and Miriam Gonzalez, who already has posted CIF qualifying times in several events.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Vista Murrieta High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced in mid-April. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
