Vista Murrieta High School's track and field team dominated its own invitational on Saturday, easily winning the boys team title and finishing a close second in the girls competition of the Inland Empire Championships.

Even with some key athletes skipping events to rest up for the upcoming postseason competition, the Broncos had no trouble winning the boys team title with 116.5 points. Rancho Verde finished a distant second with 54.5 points. In the girls division, JW North took the team title with 48.5 points, followed by Vista Murrieta with 43.5 points.

Vista also took the team title in both divisions of the frosh/soph competition.

Vista's Antonio Mitchell and Cole Dubots finished 1-2 in two sprint races. In the 100 meters, Mitchell clocked 10.64 to Dubots' 10.65. In the 200, their times were 21.76 and 21.88. Carlos Wedlow of Murrieta Mesa placed fourth in the 100 in 10.91 and Rams teammate Ryan Wade took third in the 200 in 22.27.

Amanda Van Buren of the Broncos won the girls 100 in 11.91 seconds. She took second in the 200 in 24.82. In the girls 3200, Vista's Ashley Cahalan placed third with a time of 11:12.62.

The Vista Murrieta boys team also won the 4x100 relay (41.99), beating out second-place Murrieta Mesa (42.87). Vista placed second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:28.55, trailing only first-place Rancho Verde (3:28.22).

Alex Cha of Vista finished second in the pole vault with a best of 13 feet. Teammate Jordan Testerman was long jump champion with a leap of 21-7.









Murrieta Mesa was well represented in the boys 400.
