Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Mesa High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Murrieta Mesa High School Athletes of the Week:

Jacob Rennick broke school records in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles last week. "He is a great team leader and has contributed to the success of the team this year," said his coach, Aaron Ballou.

Elizabeth Smith
, an honoree last week as well, again scored a game-winning goal for the girls lacrosse team.

Alexis Cruz Romero continues to have a standout season for the boys tennis team. "Alexis is a valued member of this team as he continues to lift the spirits of all the players and keeps a positive attitude as we finish out the season," said his coach, Lisa Laney.

Senior Joseph Pinkava has come on to hit .571 for the Rams baseball team.

Freshman Camille Rivera is hitting .421 with 8 RBIs for the Mesa softball team.

Also honored this week are Reed Surman of the boys golf team; Mateo Saldana of the boys swim team; and Preston Juarequi of the boys lacrosse team.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Murrieta Mesa High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced next week. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
