Three assistant principals in the Menifee Valley Unified School District have been promoted to principals in the district effective July 1, Superintendent Patrick Kelley announced recently.

Tom Patane (left), assistant principal at Dorothy McElhinney Middle School, will replace school principal Howard Dimler, who will become the district's director of student support. Patane came to the district in August 2013 after serving as an assistant principal and principal in the Corona-Norco Unified School District.

John Fox (below right), assistant principal at Thompson Middle School, will become principal of Lisa J. Mails Elementary School. He will replace principal Faythe Mutchnick, who will become the district's executive director of elementary education. Fox taught elementary school for five years before coming to the district in 2005.

Rob Lurkins (below left), assistant principal at Murrieta Elementary School since August 2012, will become principal at the school in place of Estelle Jaurequi, who is retiring at the end of the school year. He came to the district 12 years ago.

"These gentlemen bring strong interpersonal, leadership, and data-driven decision-making skills to their actions," Kelley said in a news release. "I am confident that their administrative experience, leadership and organizational skills will ensure that we continue to offer a premier educational experience for the students at Lisa J. Mails, Murrieta Elementary and Dorothy McElhinney Middle School."
