A gofundme.com account has been established to raise funds for the family of a U.S. Marine from Murrieta who was killed in a helicopter crash during a relief mission in earthquake-torn Nepal.

Eric Seaman, based at Camp Pendleton, was one of six Marines who died in the crash last week, according to published reports. The helicopter was reported missing while delivering supplies on May 12, but the wreckage wasn't located until Friday, according to ABC-7 news. Seaman, a husband and father of two small children, was identified on Sunday as one of the victims.

Family and friends gathered in a vigil Sunday night at Elsinore High, Seaman's alma mater, in his memory. According to ABC-7, he was a skilled athlete who played football and baseball and wrestled in high school. He joined the Marines in 2009.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.

To date, almost $24,000 has been raised in two days through the gofundme website, which can be accessed here.
