A Menifee man was arrested in connection with the attempted burglary of a Murrieta residence on Wednesday, according to the Murrieta Police Department.

Aldo Vasquez, 19, was booked at the Southwest Jail in Murrieta. He was arrested after a foot pursuit by officers in the neighborhood where the incident occurred.

Officers responded at 9:10 a.m. to the area of Jackson Avenue and Engleman Oak Street to the report of a possible burglary in progress. According to the homeowner, a male was in her back yard and had broken a window with a rock in an attempt to enter the home. Subsequent investigation indicated the suspect likely believed no one was home.

After realizing the homeowner was inside, the suspect fled on foot before entering the home. The suspect was located and arrested without incident. According to police, he was also casing other homes in the area.
