Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Mesa High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Murrieta Mesa High School Athletes of the Week:

Twin brothers Josh and Jacob Rennick each excelled at the CIF track finals last weekend. Jacob ran 14.89 for fourth place in the 110 high hurdles. Josh placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 46-8 and advanced to tonight's CIF Masters meet.

Erica Hopkins recently completed a standout season for the Rams' girls lacrosse team. "She is a work horse that never gives up," said her coach, Molly Sovacool. "She is constantly on the field no matter what position. She is a defender who gives great stability to our team. She also scores an electrifying goal every other game."

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Murrieta Mesa High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced next week. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
