Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Vista Murrieta High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Vista Murrieta High School Athletes of the Week:

Amanda Van Buren won league championships in the 100 and 200 meters and 4x400 relay for the Broncos' girls track team. She will advance to the CIF prelims on Saturday.

Jordan Testerman of the boys track team is the league champion in the long jump and ran a leg of the championship 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. He will also be in action again on Saturday.

Representing the boys volleyball team is setter Drake Thill. "He has set very consistently all year and in the last week he has perfected his jump serve and had three aces in our match against Tahquitz," said coach Kristen Cooke.

Senior infielder Sydney Romero hit three home runs in one game against Chaparral last week. She is batting .682 with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs.

Senior infielder Luis Silva is hitting .300 and has provided solid defense for the Broncos baseball team, which is 17-8 overall and 10-4 in league play.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Vista Murrieta High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced the first week of June. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
