Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Vista Murrieta High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Vista Murrieta High School Athletes of the Week:

Junior sprinter Michael Norman qualified to compete in four events in tonight's CIF Masters Meet at Cerritos College after winning championships in the 200, 400, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay in last weekend's CIF finals. His 200-meter time of 20.39 was the fastest by anyone ever in the state of California.

Senior Michael Jones dominated in the CIF swim finals and placed eighth in the 50 freestyle at the state meet, setting a school record.

Senior infielder Megan Holmes hit .286 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs for the Broncos' softball team, which ended its season in the first round of the CIF playoffs. She has received a scholarship to McNeese State in Louisiana.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Vista Murrieta High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced next week. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
