Three men were arrested Aug. 28 after a large marijuana grow was discovered inside an old airplane hangar on a large lot in Murrieta, authorities said.

Detectives with the Murrieta Police Department Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at 25190 Jackson Ave. in Murrieta. Inside the hangar, they found an elaborate indoor marijuana growing operation. It was also determined by Southern California Edison officials that the resident had been stealing power for the operation, initially estimated at over $100,000.

In all, over 950 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, cultivation equipment, dried marijuana, a shotgun, and ammunition were seized from the property. Detectives determined the residents were operating outside the legal limits for cultivating marijuana.

Isaiah Ireys, 35; Jason Smith, 32; and Michael Jameson, 34, were arrested on charges of cultivation of marijuana, grand theft, tampering with a utility line and maintaining a place for narcotic activity.
