Vista Murrieta High School's big three showed up ready to play Friday, Sept. 11 in the Broncos' 55-32 win over visiting Santiago High of Corona.

Quarterback Karson Greeley, running back Cole Dubots and versatile back Kyle Williams led the way as Vista (2-0) held off a stubborn Santiago team. Greeley threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Dubots ran for three touchdowns, including a 12-yard TD run to stake Vista to an early 14-0 lead. Williams scored three touchdowns -- two on punt returns.

Vista led 20-0 after the first quarter and started the second quarter with a quick score when Dubots ran it in from 48 yards to make it 27-0. Santiago started to make it a game when it scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, however, to make it a 34-21 Vista lead at the half. Vista penalties were a factor.

"We are not going to be real happy with our second quarter," said coach Coley Candaele. "If we play like that, it's going to be a short season. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of things to change. You usually get penalties when you're lazy, and today we were lazy."

The second half proved to be all Vista. Williams got his third touchdown of the game on his second punt return.

"Kyle is a special player back there," Candaele said. "Punt return was a bright spot for us tonight and I wish we had more bright spots.

"Kyle, Cole and Karson are going to be three guys that are going to carry us. We just need to keep putting points up."

Vista Murrieta plays next week on the road against Lakewood.
