Football player Mason Meadors and volleyball player Kali Uhl have been honored as the Murrieta 24/7 Athletes of the Month for September from Murrieta Mesa High School.

Meadors, a junior middle linebacker, leads the Rams with 44 total tackles - 12 solo. He is a big reason Murrieta Mesa posted a winning record (3-2) in the nonleague season heading into Friday night's league opener against Murrieta Valley at Mesa.

"We've done pretty well," Meadors said. "We definitely had some problems we've fixed. Now we have a chance to get back to where we were before and I feel like we're going to play really well this week."

Mesa beat Jurupa Hills 49-10 in its last game on Sept. 25 before having a bye last week to get ready for Southwestern League play.

"It was a great week," Meadors said. "We had really good practices, got some conditioning in and got our minds back where they need to be."

Uhl is just a freshman but already has made a big impact on the girls volleyball team, which is 12-9 overall this season. A 5-foot-10 outside hitter, she shows the skills of a veteran on the court.

"We're really excited," Uhl said about the Rams' chances this season. "We've worked really hard."

Uhl has played volleyball since the age of 10.

Meadors and Uhl each received a day pass to Rock Fitness gym from Murrieta 24/7. Anyone wishing to purchase a print copy of this article may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
