Police have increased security on the Murrieta Valley High School campus today following reports of threats against student witnesses connected to the arrest of a former teacher on sex-related charges, authorities said.

The threats were determined not to be credible, according to a news release from the Murrieta Police Department.

On Sunday, police received "We Tip" information as well as several social media posts regarding a possible threat of retaliation against student witnesses regarding the arrest of former teacher Shannon Fosgett. She was arrested on Friday on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Police followed up Sunday, including contacting the Fosgett family. Based on that investigation, it was determined there was no credible threat to the safety of students. However, to address the safety concerns, extra officers were deployed to the campus today.
