A Murrieta man was arrested and police are trying to locate the owners of several stolen items recovered from a series of car burglaries on Monday.

Murrieta Police officers were conducting an extra patrol in the Mapleton community due to recent thefts from vehicles in the area when they responded to a call from a resident who reported seeing two subjects wearing hoodies inside a car, police said. According to the caller, both subjects ran when confronted, dropping property as they fled.

Officers soon located three males matching the description. A short foot pursuit ensued. One subject was detained and admitted to committing vehicle burglaries in the area.

Isaiah Rolon, 18, was booked at the Southwest Detention Center. He was charged with obstructing or resisting an officer and possession of stolen property.

Items in the backpack recovered from the suspect included a sweatshirt, key chains with no keys, a belt buckle, gloves, computer hard drive, binoculars, camera and an empty wallet. Anyone believing the items belong to them should contact Crime Analyst Ami Hicks at ahicks@murrieta.org.

Thefts were reported on the following streets: Agave Way, Albacete Avenue, Alyssum Court, Azara Street, Bauvardia Way, Carnation Avenue, Eugenia Lane, Hellebore Drive, Iris Lane, Nasturtium Lane, Mapleton Avenue, and Verbena Avenue.
