Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Mesa High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. This week we honor athletes from the last two weeks. Here are the Murrieta Mesa honorees:

Senior goalkeeper Daniel Pruett allowed only one goal in the boys soccer team's first four league games. The Rams are 4-1 in league play.

"Daniel has been a great leader on and off the field, really getting his team excited and ready for the games," said his coach, Robert Bokma. "He continues to push his teammates to be the best team and work hard to ensure we get the best results possible. He is a top performer for Mesa boys soccer and a great teammate."

Junior Ashley Lybbert is one of the top players for the Rams girls water polo team, which is 20-4 this season.

"Ashley is a strong team player all around," said her coach, Audra Woods. "She'll pose a big threat to our opponents this week."

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Murrieta Mesa's January Athletes of the Month. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
