Engineer Andy Stang and firefighter Brandon Roach will represent the Murrieta Fire Department at a fundraiser in Seattle.

Members of the Murrieta Fire Department will be working out on a stair climbing exercise machine on Saturday to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The event will take place at 9 a.m. in front of the Alberton's grocery store at 41000 California Oaks Road. Firefighers will work out in full protective clothing, demonstrating the effort required to participate in the upcoming Scott Firefighter Stair Climb in Seattle in March.

Three local firefighters will attend that fundraising event at the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle. Firefighters will climb a building that elevates 788 feet and requires 1,311 steps to reach the observation deck, according to a news release.

Engineer Andy Stang and firefighters Rory Rexroad and Brandon Roach will represent Murrieta.

Money collected at Saturday's event will be donated on behalf of the department and residents of the community to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Donations can also be made through this website.
