A man police say is a fugitive from Texas was arrested and booked on four charges Thursday after being found loitering outside a Murrieta business with a loaded gun in his waistband, according to authorities.

Rogelio Luis Solis, 30, most recently a resident of Hemet, was taken into custody after being contacted by Murrieta Police Department officers outside a business in the 40700 block of California Oaks Road. A records check showed that Solis had two felony warrants.

The firearm found on Solis was loaded with an illegal high capacity magazine, police said. It was reported stolen in December 2015 in Perris. As a convicted felon, it is illegal for Solis to possess a firearm. A subsequent search by Sheriff's deputies of an unidentified address in Hemet revealed additional illegal items, including a bulletproof vest and taser.

Solis was booked at the Southwest Detention Center on charges including being a felon in possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine, and being a fugitive from justice. He likely will be extradited to Texas to face charges related to his felony warrants, police said.
