Two Murrieta residents were seriously injured and a Lake Elsinore man was killed Sunday morning in a vehicle accident on Ortega Highway, a winding section of Highway 74 in the hills above Lake Elsinore, according to a California High Patrol news release.

The deceased was identified by the Riverside County Coroner's Office as Greg Barron, 59. He died of injuries suffered when a Chevy Camaro driven by Bradley Stow, 21, of Murrieta crossed over the double yellow line of the two-lane highway and ran head-on into Barron's SUV just west of Grand Avenue about 8:40 a.m., according to the CHP.

Stow and a passenger in his vehicle, 20-year-old Celese Truc Dao Cao, suffered major injuries in the crash. Barron was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway 74 was blocked for about two hours following the accident.

Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be involved in the accident, authorities said. The incident remains under investigation.
