Vista Murrieta High School was seeded fourth in the elite Open Division and will be at home Saturday night in the first round of the CIF Southern Section girls basketball playoffs.

The Broncos finished the regular season 22-5 overall and 10-0 in the Southwestern League. They will play host to Harvard-Westlake at 7 p.m. The Open Division features schools from various divisions selected to compete at the highest level, with a berth in the CIF State regionals guaranteed. This division also includes a consolation bracket.

Vista Murrieta is led by senior forward Brittney Reed, who is averaging 17.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Other key players are senior forward Nasrin Ulel (14.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg) and junior guard Keilanei Cooper (13.8 ppg, 3.6 steals per game).

The only other area girls basketball team to make the playoffs is Murrieta Valley, which is 11-14 overall and finished fourth in the Southwestern League with a 4-6 record. The Nighthawks will play at Alta Loma Thursday night in a Division 2AA game.

In boys basketball, Vista Murrieta (15-11) will play at Riverside Poly (19-8), the Division 1A fourth seed, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
