Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Vista Murrieta High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are the Vista Murrieta honorees:

Senior forward Nasrin Ulel had a great week last week, leading the girls basketball team to victories over Chaparral (80-18) and Temecula Valley (68-23) as the Broncos secured their fourth consecutive Southwestern League Title. She had 20 points against Chaparral and 15 against Temecula Valley, and she didn't even play in the fourth quarter in either game because of the disparity in point margin. She will help lead the Broncos in tonight's CIF-SS Open Division playoff game at home against Harvard-Westlake.

"Overall, she also filled up the stat column by racking up rebounds, assists, and steals in both games as well as playing stellar defense to spearhead our efforts," coach Kurt Ruth said about Ulel's play last week.

Senior guard Armani Mills helped lead the Broncos boys basketball team into the playoff with his strong play against Chaparral and Temecula Valley last week. Then this week, he played a key role in playoff victories over Riverside Poly and Cypress, scoring 20 points in Friday's night's victory over Cypress. The Broncos will be at home in the third round against Burroughs High of Burbank on Tuesday.

Senior midfielder and team captain Dylan Matthews had goals against Chaparral and Temecula Valley last week to help the boys soccer team qualify for the playoffs for the third straight season.

Lydia Buggs had strong performances on defense for the girls soccer team last week, helping the Broncos post two shutouts for their first league championship in school history. They then beat University 6-2 in their playoff opener on Thursday, earning a second-round game at ML King on Tuesday.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Vista Murrieta's February Athletes of the Month. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
