Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Vista Murrieta High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are the Vista Murrieta honorees:

Senior Dwayne Johnson just completed a standout season for the boys basketball team, showing his athletic ability around the basket. With his help, the Broncos posted a 17-12 record and advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 1A quarterfinals before being eliminated.

Sharyah Cotton had similar success for the girls basketball team. She had all five of her points in the fourth quarter on Saturday to help the Broncos beat Harvard-Westlake in the first round of the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs.

"She had a nice floater off the dribble and then hit a big 3-pointer to help us hang on against a furious comeback attempt by the visitors," said coach Kurt Ruth.

Junior midfielder Patrick Marquez played a key role for the Broncos, who lost a 1-0 decision at Oak Hills in the first round of the boys soccer playoffs.

"As the game progressed he moved to attacking mid, then to center back to free up our fastest player," said coach John Hanson. "He definitely showed his versatility in that game."

Josie Guinn had a hat trick and an assist in the girls soccer team's 6-2 victory over University in the first round of the girls soccer playoffs Feb. 18.
