A 22-year-old identified as a transient resident of Murrieta was arrested on multiple weapons charges Friday in connecting with an armed robbery at a local pharmacy, authorities said.
Jacob Allen Nielsen was taken into custody not far from the Walgreens store at 40663 California Oaks Road, where officers responded to the report of a robbery. According to police, a male suspect entered the business, approached the pharmacy, displayed a handgun and demanded pills from the clerk. The suspect received approximately 600 OxyContin pills with a retail value of more than $10,000. He then fled the business.
The suspect was found hiding in a nearby apartment complex, where he had apparently changed some of his clothing in an attempt to disguise his appearance, police said. A handgun reportedly used in the robbery and stolen drugs were recovered.
Nielsen was booked into Southwest Detention Center on the following charges:
Armed robbery
Possession of a firearm in commission of a felony
Concealed firearm on person
Exhibiting / displaying a firearm in a threatening manner
Possession of stolen property
Resisting / obstructing a police officer
Possession of a controlled substance
