A Murrieta man has been arrested on the basis of tips from the public in connection with an April 4 felony hit and run in Temecula, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

Joshua Deleeuw, 25, was arrested based on evidence from an ongoing investigation.

According to authorities, a vehicle allegedly driven by the suspect struck an elderly female pedestrian on Margarita Road just north of Rustic Glen Drive about 8 a.m. on April 4. This resulted in serious injuries to the woman, who remains hospitalized.

The driver fled the scene without stopping to aid the victim or to identify himself.
