Classes were held without disruption at Vista Murrieta High School today after police searched the campus in response to what is considered a non-credible threat.
An explosive detection K9 unit was used to search every room on campus early this morning and nothing suspicious was found, said Karen Parris, public information officer for the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. Classes began on schedule with police officers on campus and patrolling the area as a precaution.
This action was in response to a vague, anonymous email sent to the school on Tuesday saying there would be an explosion on campus today. An email was sent out to all parents of VMHS students Tuesday night about the situation.
Police reviewed the emailed threat and did not consider it a credible threat, but precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the students.
"All students are in class and it's quiet on campus," Parris said.
