A Murrieta man was arrested for allegedly sending sexually explicit text messages to a 15-year-old girl in response to her neighborhood flier offering babysitting services, police said.

John Luis Coberg, 23, was arrested near the girl's home June 15 after he texted the girl to arrange a meeting, according to a Murrieta Police Department news release. He faces multiple charges of communication with a minor with the intent to commit a sex act.

The girl was in the 24000 block of Echo Ridge Drive about 3 p.m. on June 11, handing out fliers door to door regarding babysitting and animal sitting services. The girl gave a flier, which included her cell phone number, to the suspect at his residence. A short time later, police say, she began receiving text messages from the suspect, inquiring about having a "massage."

Over the next three days the suspect continued to text the girl, including sending sexually explicit photos of himself. He asked her to send him sexually explicit photos in return. The juvenile and her parents reported the incident to police, who began in investigation.

Coberg was booked at Southwest Detention Center. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact Detective Andy Spagnolo at 951-461-6342. You can also provide information anonymously via WeTip at 800-78-CRIME or 800-782-7463.
