A Temecula woman assaulted at a local pharmacy on Monday afternoon died Tuesday night in a local hospital from her injuries, authorities said today.

Tammy Serrano, 54, died at 9:30 p.m. at Inland Valley Hospital, according to a new release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. She was assaulted about 5 p.m. the previous day inside the CVS Pharmacy at 31771 Rancho California Road in Temecula.

Officers responding to the scene found the victim suffering from serious injuries. Store personnel detained the suspect, who was taken into custody. He has been identified as Brian Eldon Saylor, 31, of Temecula. Saylor was arrested for assault and now faces murder charges.
