Six residents have pulled papers with the intent to run for Murrieta City Council positions, including current mayor Randon Lane and council member Harry Ramos.

The seats held by Lane and Ramos are the only two up for election in November. Lane announced his intentions on his Facebook page, writing, "It was with great excitement that I formally pulled papers to run for re-election to the Murrieta City Council. I have been blessed and honored to serve the community that my wife and I have chosen to raise our beautiful three children in and a community we love so much! With all that our council has accomplished in recent years, there is still so much more I want to accomplish."

Lane (right) lost a bid for a seat on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors in June. He has been serving as mayor on the City Council since October, when the council voted 4-0 to remove Ramos from that position following allegations of misconduct.

Apparently undeterred by the controversy surrounding the action taken against him and pending litigation by a woman who says Ramos sexually assaulted her, Ramos is seeking re-election. He has disputed the allegations from the beginning.

The other four residents to pull papers for council positions are Tom Butler, Kelly Seyarto, Marlon Ware and Stephen Espinosa. Butler is a member of the Planning Commission. Seyarto is a former member of the City Council.

Residents have until Aug. 12 to return completed paperwork and be certified as candidates.
